Piss Off, WAAX Shock Value

Piss Off:

Utter perfection. They were one of the first bands I started listening to when I first heard about the scene around 2 years ago, and their music is relevant for any young person in Brisbane. One thing I can't unhear is how production quality wise their Gormless album is quite bad, as one of the tracks (Geography Class) is in mono, and some tracks are louder and some are quiet, with some being transcoded from MP3 and with crackling sounds. That's to be expected from a band who recorded their album entirely DIY though, and the tracks are phenomenal, Gormless deserves a remaster. Their Slab album is a natural maturation of the band, delving into issues like the housing crisis and fame. Arran's vocals and songwriting has many tracks being great comedy.

WAAX:

Great for a reason. They were the first local band I listened to that wasn't the old Savage Garden or The Veronica's played on commercial radio.

I found their song "No Doz" while searching for caffeine pills. At the time I liked Paramore, and they sounded like Paramore's Riot era, so I unknowingly listened to a local band. I soon searched them up and found they were a local band,

Shock Value:

Hilarious, in a good way. I saw them live once in the 4ZZZ carpark and the frontman danced crazily and made funny expressions. They are very similar to Piss Off, in that they have many comedic lyrics, placing a funny twist on punk. There's rumours circulating about them, which I will not delve into, which has started to jeopardise their place in the scene.
