  1. The small local band

If you meet this type of band, you are almost guaranteed to become acquaintances or friends with them, as long as you're not doing any stupid or being rude. They are desperate for any type of attention, and spreading through word of mouth is really their only way to become popular at this point. You may even be invited to join the band if you know an instrument.

  1. The scene band

At this point, the fame is getting to them. Unless you have something to offer, like being a zine publisher, well known scene figure, or anyone higher up than that. They'll be lukewarm towards you if you're a regular fan, and there's a chance they won't recognise you in the crowd if they're playing on the stage.

  1. Respected local act

The fame has gotten to them. Unless you're a record label official or someone that will provide them with money, you're nothing to them.

  1. Indie act

At this point all has broken loose.
